I am running to be your Justice of the Peace because I believe deeply in social and racial justice. For six and a half years at Texas Appleseed, I have labored assiduously to increase working-class youth voices in politics. In 2024, I created an Education Justice Youth Fellowship at Texas Appleseed that brought young Black and Brown Texans to the Capitol in 2025 to advocate against regressive school discipline bills. One Youth Fellow, a 23-year-old Dallas ISD teacher named Adrian Fonseca, delivered powerful remarks against the harmful House Bill 6, and his perspective was subsequently featured in a local publication Community Impact. These experiences and more inspired me to serve my community more directly, in the “People’s Court” as Justice of the Peace.
